I was introduced to the Burrowing Owl while researching animals found in California. Their intense look certainly grabs me, but it is the swirl of feathers surrounding their piercing eyes that I kept coming back to.
Often it is simply one characteristic of an animal or some interesting lighting in a photograph that sparks my interest. That is what happened here. Those feathers spoke to me and this is the result.
