Object: Kitchen
Backsplash
Materials: Porcelain
Floor Tile
Method: Direct
The
left over porcelain tiles used for the kitchen floor were
broken up and used for the backsplash in the entire room.
The pieces were affixed to the walls with mastic.
The
trim between the tiles and counter top is tumbled stone
purchased at Home Depot. The random blue toned stones in
addition to the overall texture of the trim fit nicely
with all the other elements already in the kitchen. I put
a bead of clear caulk under the trim to make sure any puddled
water would not seep through to the wall.
After
all the cabinets and counters were taped off, the grout
was applied. A coat of sealant, to keep the inevitable
spaghetti sauce from sticking, was the last step.
